Creative Spotlight: Christopher Rodriguez – Founder of Playground.MOV

“I like to see myself as a Warrior of the Light who’s purpose in life is to inspire imagination and creativity but, if you want me to be real, I guess you can say I am a goofball who loves being around vibrant and talented people.”

Creative Spotlight: Christopher Rodriguez aka “Tops”

For this creative spotlight, I interviewed Christopher Rodriguez, Founder of a Playground.MOV. Playground.MOV is currently a YouTube Channel/Production that enables people of all ages to remember and embrace their inner child, as well as explore their imagination with an innocent mind.

I love their mission! I just think it’s just tight to channel your inner kid and let go of your inhibitions. And on top of that, channel that energy through art, whether it be dance, or song, anything!

Here’s their latest creation:

The Interview

  1. Let’s get to know you! Describe your best self in one sentence. (Yes, you can have lots of commas and “ands.”)
People call me Tops, others call me Christops, but my full name is Christopher Aaron… I like to see myself as a Warrior of the Light who’s purpose in life is to inspire imagination and creativity but, if you want me to be real, I guess you can say I am a goofball who loves being around vibrant and talented people.

  2. Tell me about Playground.Mov, what’s your mission? Tell me about your purpose. 🙂
Playground.Mov is the embodiment of an idea I’ve had for a very long time. I’ve dabbled into everything within the creative/entertainment spectrum which includes singing, dancing, acting, songwriting, producing, scriptwriting, and filmmaking. With my future business, I’d like to incorporate everything that I’ve learned.

Playground.Mov is currently a YouTube Channel/Production that enables people of all ages to remember and embrace their inner child. We aim to encourage everyone to explore their imagination with an innocent mind. By embracing your inner child, we believe it allows the creative mind to free itself from reality, judgement, and social conditions. It enables us to feel invincible, push our creativity further, and go beyond the unexpected.

Right now, we are just a small production group with dancers, singers, and a video camera. In the future, our goal is to open up a creative studio that will not only serve as our hub to turn imagination into reality, but also offer classes to children focusing on creativity.

  3. Name 3 people who inspire you to keep your project going.
    – The production team itself. We are all creatives that continues to learn and grow from each other.
    – Author of The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho
    – Walt Disney

  4. How do you like to start your day?
I try to start my day by practicing mindfulness meditation. A quick 5-minute meditation allows me to set a peaceful outlook for my day. It concedes me into the present moment, and places me into the ‘here and now’. After that, my morning routine ideally consists of (in no particular order): making coffee/tea, free-writing a page in my journal, reading an excerpt from Coelho’s Warrior of the Light, and reviewing my Passion Planner.

  5. What are some things that make you feel successful? (i.e. lots of likes, when people tell you certain things, looking on-point, ready to take on the day, crossing off lists, anything!, etc.)
Success to me is success. What I mean by that is if someone approaches me with an idea or project and needs my assistance, knowledge, and tools and I deliver on that– seeing their dream turn into something what they hoped for is what makes me feel successful.

  6. If you had to give advice to anyone starting their own creative project, what would you tell them?
    1. Don’t be so hard on yourself.
    2. Finish what you start.
    3. Surround yourself with creatives.
    4. Share your project with an open mind.

  7. And just for fun… What would be on your perfect pizza? (I love pizza.)
BRICK-OVEN PIZZA! A five-cheese pizza with white cream sauce, chicken, bacon, spinach, garlic, and mascarpone cheese.

  8. What are you good at? Do you have any special or hidden talents? Don’t be humble now! 🙂
My number one passion will always be singing and songwriting. I also have a degree in audio engineering and I’ve taught myself to film and edit videos. On rare occasions, I like to write stories for short films.

  9. What’s your current feel good song to put you in a good mood?
Currently it’s Cant Stop the Feeling! by Justin Timberlake. But if I have to choose my all-time feel good song, it’s Olly Murs’ Dance with Me Tonight.

  10. If you only had one day left on earth, what would you do?
Have one big jam session with everyone I know! Music brings people together and singing cleanses the soul.

  11. And finally, living consciously – what does that mean to you?
Fully live in the present; slow down, look around, and give yourself to the ‘here and now.’ Engage and grant 100% to the people you’re with, the places you’re in or the situation at hand. Appreciate your surroundings and live in the moment.
