Carbs. Rule. Everything. Around. Me.
I’m serious. That’s why I love Consortium Holdings for blessing San Diego with Soda + Swine and Polite Provisions. If you don’t know, now you know.
Straight from the Consortium Holdings website:
We are a social & culinary collective creating incubators for meaningful interaction. We try to create places that matter.
And that they do. My friends and I frequent this little Adams Avenue duo. Soda & Swine is a carb haven, but primarily specializing in all things meatball. You’ll find beauty in the beautiful penny floored bathrooms, the hand crafted menu of delicious balls of meat, and dirty fries. The dirty fries are gorgeous. But not too gorgeous to eat. I’ll eat those forever. Okay not really, but I’d like to sometimes.
Polite Provisions, next door is a neat little creation – a nod to a nostalgic provider of all things noted to the vintage pharmaceutical: but in this case tonics and spirits. You’ll find dapper bartenders servin’ up some tasty & often-times stiff drinks. Which in my mind, is perfect for a casual lunch date or a hip place to hang with friends in the later day. Okay, basically all the time. When I was in college, I would come here at the end of my week after finals to celebrate at 11:30 in the morning. (They open at 11:30 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays)
On this particular trip, we ordered a bunch of spaghetti and meatballs (of choice, of course) Fried Pizza Knots (If you like cheese and carbs, just, yes), and Dirty Fries. I prefer mine with the chicken & chorizo meatballs. I forget the name right now, but it’s an amazing pile of fries, gravy, mushrooms, meat, and other such goodness.
So let’s just say, do yourself a favor and take a visit to these lovely places. They share a wall, and you can order your food at Soda & Swine and have it brought over to you at Polite Provisions.
